Christmas Letter 2012

“She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”
Gospel According to Matthew 1:21

Merry Christmas 2012 from the Jorgs!  Here are a few highlights from this past year and previews of what lies ahead for our family as we approach the new year.

Trevor is  17 and is a senior at Desert Christian High School. As you can see from the picture he has pretty much taken over the position of tallest in the family and is still growing. In August he spent a week in Honduras with a team from our church and in November organized an event that raised over $1,200 to purchase soccer cleats for the street kids that he worked with while he was there.  He played his fourth season of varsity soccer and is looking forward to his fourth season of varsity baseball this spring.  He is busy applying for colleges.  We’re not sure yet where he will be next year!

Jason is 12 and is getting much busier as the teen years approach.  He joined his brother, Trevor, in Civil Air Patrol this fall.  He enjoyed his orientation flight and has been working hard to pass tests and  increase rank.  He loves his school and especially Logic and Latin classes.  He also loves playing baseball. This past spring he and Matthew were on the first team in their Little League’s 30+ year history to finish undefeated in both the regular season (18-0) and tournament(5-0).  He pitched, and played short stop and 1st base.

Matthew will be 10 in February and is in 4th grade.  He is an avid baseball player like his brothers.  He is a lefty and, even as one of the youngest players on his team did a fair share of pitching and made quite a few dramatic plays and great throws from the outfield.  He also enjoys school, especially PE and recess!  He along with Jason, plays in the hand chime choir at school and is enjoying playing the violin as well.  We praise God that the medication he began taking in July 2011 has worked so well!  After 3 years of going through medications that were largely ineffective, it has been good to see him feel and act like a normal kid this past year.  He still goes for an IV at the U of A Medical Center once a month.

Rusty is the newest member of the family.  He is our new dog, an Australian Shepherd pup.  He was born in September.  He is puppy through and through and he keeps us busy, but is a very smart dog and is already learning many commands!  The boys love having a dog and we are glad to have him!

We (Dave and Christina) are enjoying the fast-paced lives of being parents of three boys!  Major highlight: We moved into our new house in September.  It is perfect for our family, with a bedroom for each of the boys and even one left over for us! Christina, along with schooling Matthew and Jason on the three days that they study at home in their University Model School, has taken on the role at church of Interim Children’s Ministry Director.  She also loves her monthly book club and enjoys being a sports mom and going to all the soccer and baseball games.  Dave is once again in transition.  The company that he worked for went through significant changes and reorganization and many positions were eliminated, including his.  We are excited, knowing that God is calling Dave out!  He is looking at several exciting opportunities that would allow him to use his background in business administration along with his Master’s degree in Educational Ministries from Wheaton to serve in a ministry environment.  We would love to stay in Tucson, but know that our God is BIG and will take care of us if He chooses to move us to a new place!

That pretty much sums it up!  We hope you and your families are well and pray that the Good News of Jesus’ birth will affect you in a very powerful way this year!

Merry Christmas from Dave, Christina, Trevor, Jason, Matthew & Rusty!
